Cairo Cravings, “the first authentic Egyptian restaurant in Tampa,” opened its first location recently, inside the Grand Restaurant & Lounge, at 1104 Fowler Ave, Suite 102.

“Cairo Cravings introduces the Bay area to rich traditions and recipes that have been passed down through generations,” said coverage of the opening published by That’s So Tampa earlier this month. “From sizzling shawarma to the royal delicacy of stuffed pigeon, this is a true taste of Egypt — no passport required.”

Now, the Egyptian restaurant concept appears to be branching out with a standalone location. Plan review paperwork submitted H&K Pies LLC shows a Cairo Cravings opening a little more than 10 minutes down the street, in Temple Terrace, at 11009 N 56th St.

The menu features platters like Grilled Soujouk (beef sausage, mixed peppers & onions and Tahini sauce), Egyptian Fattah (lamb / rice & crispy pita bread & garlicky flavorful tomato sauce), Lamb Chops, and more. There are also specials like Hamam (pigeon), Egyptian Molokhia, and Pasta with Bashamel.

What Now reached out on Wednesday to co-owner Hazem Mostafa to ask about plans for a second opening from Cairo Cravings. Mostafa was not immediately available.
