A new frozen yogurt and gelato place is preparing to open its doors in Gibsonton, on the northwest corner of Big Bend Road and Kings Lake Drive. Called Apollo Beach Peachwave, this new spot will be a family-friendly self-serve haven for frozen treats with a little something for everyone. It’s opening, according to plan review paperwork submitted by Natmadelyn Enterprises LLC.

“It’s going to be an exciting thing to have in the community,” co-owner Craig Robison told What Now on Wednesday.

Robison and his wife decided to build their family business in honor of their son, who has autism. The idea, which Robison says they’d seen in action in several other family businesses, was to create a suitable place him to be able to work, and enjoy working. They have a vision of place where everyone can contribute something to the community.

“As we grow, we would like to be able to bring in other special needs kids and give them opportunities,” said Robison.

It’s the proven self-serve system: guests serve themselves from a variety of frozen yogurt and gelato flavors—including gluten- and sugar-free choices—pop over to the topping bar to load up on some extra goodies, and bring it to counter, where it’s priced by weight.

Opening in the Big Bend Road location, Apollo Beach Peachwave will be situated between the Shell/Circle K gas stations and McDonald’s.
