Founded by restaurateur couple Chris and Kirk Voelker, State Street Eating House + Cocktails offers “fresh, innovative, and down right delicious” fare in Sarasota’s Main Street Merchants area. After proving successful on State Street, the Voelkers are working to open Beso, a new concept featuring a diverse tapas menu.

“We’re working on the menu now,” Chris Voelker told What Now on Monday. “Of course, there will be the expected Spanish dishes, but we also want to include a broader range of offerings that reflect the whole Iberian Peninsula.”

The space seats 150 guests and will feature décor influenced by Voelker travel in Tulum, with plenty of fresh greenery.

At Beso, Voelker said, “we’ll be building on our reputation for fresh food and trendy offerings.”

Like State Street, which is only a short walk away, Beso will feature a well-stocked bar, with a selection Voelker describes as more along boutique lines, with a particular focus on amaro, an Italian herbal liqueur often drunk as an after-dinner digestif.

Beso will celebrate its Grand Opening on June 2nd. In the meantime, check out State Street Eating House + Cocktails (if you haven’t already), and follow @statestreetsrq on Instagram.
