The business center on the southeast corner of Commercial Way and Hunter Lake Road in Spring Hill will soon be home to a new bagel shop offering New York-style bagels and other deli classics. Big City Bagel & Coffee Company’s bagels come all the way from the Big Apple, and they’ll be served up soon at 1096 Commercial Way.

“We’re bringing the New York bagel to the Tampa area in partnership with Davidovich Bagels,” Chris, one of the owners of Big City Bagel, told What Now on Monday. “They’ve been making bagels since the early 1900’s. They roll them and boil them and ship them to us, and we finish them in our convection ovens. It’s amazing; it’s really a New York bagel, not like we usually get down here. They’re bigger, 5 ounces each, with that texture, that feel, that taste.”

And it’s not only bagels: Big City Bagel will also be serving up pastrami, corned beef, and sandwiches on New York-style kaiser rolls. There will also be plenty of cream cheeses and breakfast-style bagel sandwiches.

Big City Bagel is opening in a complex that houses Family Car Wash & Auto Center, making for plenty of foot traffic. Its space features seating for about 26 guests.

“It’s me and my husband,” Chris said. “We’ve been together for 32 years, and we used to have delis in New Jersey when we lived there. We always thought about doing it again, but the opportunity never came.”

Until now! Keep an eye out for Big City Bagel and Coffee Company, opening soon in Spring Hill.
