With locations in Williamsville and Buffalo, in New York, Wingnutz has been serving up Buffalo wings since 2005.

“We had been sampling wings all over Buffalo, NY, and all of them disappointed us,” the Wingnutz website tells the story. “Most of them had a greasy outside, fatty (or horribly dry) inside, and the sauce ran off into the oil on the bottom of the dish. The majority of the sauces we sampled were simply the traditional hot sauce flavor with the minor addition of butter to change the ‘taste’. We decided to do something about that.”

The result is a restaurant whose award-winning wings come in sauces like the Wingnutz Signature: Sweet & Tangy, along with Buffalo (Mild, Medium, or Hot), Saucy Hot Cajun, Honey Sriracha BBQ, and even Suicide (!).

Now, Wingnutz is making its way south to Florida, where recently submitted plan review documents show a new Wingnutz opening in Lakeland, at 1037 Dixieland Mall Ln.

Word of a Wingnutz expansion has been in the news in recent weeks, as well.

“Wingnutz is targeting several cities across the country for growth, starting in Florida, and the company plans to start accepting franchise offers later this spring,” said coverage by Buffalo Business First earlier this month.

Opening in the Dixieland Mall location, Wingnutz will be part of a food and beverage community that includes Concord Coffee and Krazy Kombucha Taproom.
