Founded in 1976 in Wilmington, Delaware, Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop is expanding all over the country. It now boasts more than 175 locations, and one of them is getting ready to open in Sarasota, at 6320 S Tamiami Trail, according to plan review documents submitted by Edible Stickney LLC.

“Coming Soon to South Florida, finally….” says a post published to Instagram by @capriottis_sarasota_bradenton. The post includes a video showing construction under way in the space.

Local-insider page @sarasotarestaurants replied to the post: “Do you have an approximate opening date? Originally it was going to be at the beginning of this year.”

“We should have construction complete by the end of October,” came the answer. “Unfortunately, permitting took nearly 10 months. We are full steam ahead, and should be announcing a tentative date for November in the next month.”

That means lots of sandwiches, cheesesteaks and more from this growing sandwich chain before the year is out. Items currently featured on the menu include the Grilled Italian (premium Italian deli meats grilled to perfection with provolone cheese, fried onions, oil, lettuce, and tomato) the Hot Bobbie (Grilled slow-roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, handmade stuffing, and mayo), and the American Wagyu French Dip (premium Wagyu beef topped with melted Swiss cheese, mayo, and a dash of black pepper. Served with a side of hot Au Jus sauce for dipping).
