With more than 1000 ice cream shops nationwide, Cold Stone Creamery is one of America’s favorite ice cream brands, serving up its frozen treats for more than 30 years. And with nearly 100 locations, Florida comes in second, just behind California, for the most Cold Stone locations.

Now, the brand is continuing its growth with a new location in Dunedin. The new ice cream shop is expected launch at 1733 Main Street next month, and for Cristina, franchisee behind the location, it’s been a long time coming.

“My husband had retired from the army, and we’d always said one day we’d like to open a Cold Stone,” Cristina told What Now on Thursday. “Finally, we said, you know what? It’s time.”

With a wide variety of ice cream flavors, Cold Stone serves up Signature Creations like Birthday Cake Remix (Cake Batter Ice Cream with Rainbow Sprinkles, Brownie and Fudge), Coffee Lovers Only (Coffee Ice Cream with Roasted Almonds, Heath Bar and Caramel), and Our Strawberry Blonde (Strawberry Ice Cream with Graham Cracker Pie Crust, Strawberries, Caramel and Whipped Topping). You can also invent your own creation, choosing from a variety of flavors and toppings.

Cristina says the location will feature seating for 12 guests inside, along with (most likely) some outdoor seating as well. The location is currently waiting on some equipment for some finishing touches with construction. A tentative opening date is April 18, with a grand opening to be celebrated in May.

“We’re a small family business, operated by veterans, and we want to welcome everybody,” Cristina said.
