Beloved across the country for its legendary Butterburgers and frozen custard, Culver’s has grown to encompass well over a thousand restaurants, and it’s continuing to grow its footprint in the Florida market. One of its next stops, a new location headed up by S&L Companies (the network’s largest franchisee) will be in Temple Terrace.
There are locations in North Tampa, Carrollwood, and Brandon, the Tampa Bay Times points out, but this one, opening at 5880 E Fowler Ave, will be Temple Terrace’s first.
“I think we’re going to start construction in about two months, and from there it’s usually a five-month process,” S&L Companies CEO Jeff Liegel told What Now on Monday. “It’s a 4,500-square-building with a double drive through. We’re excited to be there.”
Liegel’s journey with Culver’s began in 1994, when he took a job at the second-ever Culver’s location. He’s been involved with the company ever since.
“It’s a family affair. My brother and I have locations in five states, currently,” said Liegel.
How has it been watching Culver’s grow over more than thirty years? What Now asked.
“It’s been fun to watch Culver’s evolve, but we never skimp on quality. We never compromise on that. Our product is the same one it has been since the beginning.”
Culver’s branded Butterburgers come in varieties like the Bacon Deluxe, “with layers of real Wisconsin cheese and crisp bacon,” and the Culver’s Deluxe, with Wisconsin cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, red onion, and Culver’s signature mayo. That’s alongside chicken sandwiches and tenders, plus seafood sandwiches and dinners like the Butterfly Jumbo Shrimp Dinner and the North Atlantic Cod Dinner—and, of course, there’s Culver’s Frozen Custard. it comes in the form of sundaes like the Banana Split and the Turtle Sundae; shakes, in flavors like Chocolate Malt, Mint, Peanut Butter, and Salted Caramel; and Concrete Mixers.
The company recently launched its first loyalty program, Delicious Rewards, which award points to guests for each dollar spent.
“Members can earn 10 points for every $1 spent when their account is connected to an order. The program also features surprise-and-delight offers such as birthday deals,” says coverage by Nation’s Restaurant News. “Culver’s added that more features will be rolled out throughout the next year “and beyond,” including an ability to provide input on menu development — similar to Taco Bell’s recent Fan Style feature — as well as more personalized recommendations.”
