Dead Bob’s has been a St. Pete mainstay for hangouts, sports, food, and beer for more than ten years. Currently located at 6716 Central Avenue, the bar is preparing to relocate to a new home just down the street, at 6475 Central Avenue, where it will replace Kay’s Family Restaurant.
What Now reached out on Thursday to co-owner Ben Scherlis, who also owns Dead Bobs Too in Tampa, after finding plan review documents showing a Dead Bob’s opening in the works at the new Central Avenue address. Scherlis was not immediately available for comment on the move.
“Although Dead Bob’s is moving into a new space, we are not changing who we are and have been for the past 10 years,” Scherlis said last year in coverage by St. Pete Rising.
The move was originally expected to take place during the winter. What Now is waiting on an update from Scherlis regarding the new (re)launch date. For the time being, Dead Bob’s is still open at 6716 Central Ave.
“Dead Bob’s is a fun, friendly place to hang out, listen to music, watch live sports all the while enjoying high quality food, cold beer & refreshing cocktails all at affordable prices,” says the bar’s website.
Dead Bob’s serves dinner, as well as weekend breakfast. The main difference to be expected in the new location, according to the St. Pete Rising coverage, will be breakfast served daily, thanks to the new location’s larger kitchen.
Stay tuned for more details on the opening as they become available.
