Founded in Amherst, New York, just north of Buffalo, Duff’s Famous Wings has been in the chicken wing business since 1969. It now boasts a total of seven locations in New York and Texas; and it’s on its way to Florida, with a location set to open in Seminole Heights.

“I would say we’re shooting for about 10 weeks from now,” Adrien Angelvy, the franchisee behind the location, told What Now on Wednesday. “But of course we can’t say for sure.”

That’s ten weeks until the classic chicken wing brand starts serving up wings slathered in sauces ranging from Mild to Medium, to Hot, and beyond—including to Super Hot Sauce and Death Sauce. There’s also BBQ, Sweet Cajun, and Spicy Garlic Parm. On top of wings, there’s also a selection of sandwiches and wraps, plus starters like Jalapeño Poppers and Fried Pickle Chips.

“The menu is about eighty percent the same, but each location is a little different; each one has its specialty,” Angelvy said. “We’re going to do things a little differently with the beverage approach. Tampa has a great cocktail scene, and we have an opportunity to use our experience in cocktails, and the experience of some of our team members, to do something different. There will be more on the cocktail and wine side, so that people can come have a drink on the patio and watch the game.”

Coverage by CL Tampa Bay  says the Duff’s Famous Wings location will be opening in the space formerly occupied by Ella’s Americana Folk Art Cafe, which closed back in September. The address is 5119 N Nebraska Ave.

“I like to describe Duff’s as a great family-friendly wing joint. It’s a restaurant for anyone and everyone. Bring the kids, and bring the grandparents,” said Angelvy, noting that it’s precisely this community aspect that made Seminole Heights an attractive choice for Florida’s first brick-and-mortar Duff’s Famous Wings.

“There is very strong community feeling in Seminole Heights. That was a big part of our decision to open there.”
