South Tampa’s Forbici Modern Italian is looking to open a new location in St. Petersburg, according to recent coverage in the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

The Journal reports that founder Jeff Gigante, of Next Level Brands, says he has begun looking at real estate in St. Pete to find a home for the Italian restaurant’s second location.

“I think St. Pete is ready for Forbici,” Gigante told the Journal, describing the whole package: “live music seven nights a week, casual Italian, and a big, fun convivial neighborhood restaurant.”

Forbici’s menu starts with Antipasti like Calabrian Chicken Wings, Calamari a la Birra, and Traditional Meatballs. Then comes its election of salads, sandwiches, and grain bowls, including an Impossible Meatball Sandwich and the “Risotto” Bowl, with farro parsley, parmesan, and wild mushroom brood.

What follows are pastas like Bolognese and Cacio E Pepe, plus by Roman-style pizzas that come in flavors like Margherita, Funghi (wild mushrooms, truffle cream, parsley, olive oil) and Salsiccia (Forbici’s own Italian sausage, broccoli rabe, Calabrian chili, mozzarella).

What Now reached out to Jeff Gigante on Thursday. Gigante was not immediately available to comment on the news.
