A new upscale restaurant offering Japanese cuisine is preparing to open its doors in Lakeland. Plan review paperwork submitted recently shows Hachuko opening at 207 E Main Street, across the street from Munn Park.

“You see an empty building, we see Lakeland’s next upscale dinner spot,” says an Instagram post by LAL Today. “Meet Hakucho, a Japanese-inspired restaurant coming downtown to 207 E. Main St., between Linksters and Black & Brew.”

Behind Hakucho are Chris Cleghorn, Amanda Watson, and Ryan Neal. Neal is also the owner of Sabu Ramen. What Now reached out to Neal on Friday to inquire about Hakucho’s menu offerings and projected launch date. Neal was not immediately available to comment, but What Now is awaiting more information on the upcoming restaurant (so stay tuned).

Hakucho’s Instagram page (@hakuchofl) describes the concept as a “Tokyo pub inspired” modern Izakaya, offering cocktails, yakitori, ramen, and udon. It also gives a projected summer 2024 opening.
