Authentic, English-style tea service is coming to Lake Wales this November. A new tea house, called Lady B’s Tea Parlour, is opening at 205 E Stuart Avenue, and it’s about to be a local mainstay for high tea and luncheon.
Founded by Jessica Bray, the Paris Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef who owned and operated downtown Lake Wales cafe Très Jolie, and partner Deborah Partlow, the Lady B’s will be “a 32-seat restaurant serving traditional teas,” says materials provided to What Now by Chef Bray. “We will also offer a limited luncheon menu, designed to serve area business employees and residents.”
“Deborah lived in England for some time, and I worked there in international real estate before I retired,” Bray told What Now on Wednesday. “So we both had experience with English-style tea, and we wanted to provide a tea parlour experience that would be just like that. We’re trying to evoke what it would be like if you found a little tea room out in the country.”
The tea menu, priced per person, features several tiers:
- Luncheon Tea – Tier 1. An assortment of fresh tea sandwiches, including cucumber, watercress, chicken salad and the Chef’s savories du jour.
- Cream Tea – Tier 2. Two freshly baked scones served with assorted sweet spreads and clotted cream.
- Sweet Tea – Tier 3. An assortment of petite desserts, including fruit tart, puff sawn, chocolate-dipped fruit and sweets du jour.
You can also order Afternoon Tea, which includes all three tiers.
“We’re projecting the first week of November for an opening. The space is still being remodeled,” Bray told What Now.
