Specialty donut shop Parlor Doughnuts plans to expand in the Greater Tampa Bay area, says coverage from St. Pete Rising published last month. Parlor, the coverage said, is the first restaurant tenant for Largo’s upcoming mixed-use development Horizon West Bay, a “complex that will contain the new Largo City Hall, 18,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, and a 300-space parking garage.”

“This lease represents the first step in creating a vibrant, dynamic downtown area that will serve the Largo community for years to come,” Largo Mayor Woody Brown said in a statement at the time.

What Now spoke on Tuesday with Parlor franchisee Colten Burress, who has brought the donut shop to Venice, Clearwater, and other localities.

“They’re supposed to hand us the keys at the end of the year,” Burress said.

Construction would start shortly thereafter, with an expected opening in April or May.

Of course, little is for certain as the area faces the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Burress said Parlor’s Clearwater location has faced damage from Hurricane Helene. It remains to be seen what the overall recovery from one of the area’s worst storms in memory will look like.

If you or a loved one is affected, a list of emergency resources is available here, at Tampa.gov.
