With locations in Orlando, Lake Mary, and Altamonte Springs, New Jersey-born restaurant Mikado Sushi is continuing to expand its presence in the Sunshine State. This week, What Now came across plan review paperwork showing a Mikado Sushi opening at 1979 Aegean Way in Davenport.
The brand’s website confirms that a new location is “Coming Soon” to Davenport.
“Among the pioneers of Japanese cuisine, the journey began back in 1996, Mikado opened their first little sushi shop in New Jersey,” says the restaurant’s website. “Our passion for modern Japanese Cuisine shows throughout all of our dishes! We love its flavor along with fusion, texture, and contrast in balance with the quality brought out by fresh ingredients.”
The menu features a wide range of sushi choices, including Signature Makimono offerings like Banzai Tree (tuna yellowtail, krabmeat, avocado tobiko rolled w. thinly sliced of cucumber, served w. lime ponzu sauce) and the Mexican Roll (tempura style roll w. spicy tuna avocado inside, served w. masago, shaved scallion & house special sauce on top).
There are also hot and cold small plates like Edamame, Gyoza, Takoyaki, Tuna Tartar, and Tai Ceviche (seasonal snapper sliced sashimi-style w. yuzu citrus, seasoned w. Hawaiian pink salt, Thai sriracha hot sauce & topped w. black tobiko & micro cilantro).
What Now reached out on Thursday to owner Tim Liu to ask about plans for the launch in Davenport. Liu was not immediately available for comment.
