Located on the southeast corner of South Manhattan Avenue and West Kensington Avenue in Tampa, Barks by the Bay & Meows Too was a beloved dog boutique and pet groomer. The business has since closed, and now a new local business looks to be taking its place.

This week, What Now came across plan review paperwork submitted by Alani Medspa & Wellness, LLC for a restaurant project called Alani Cafe. This appears to be the replacement for Barks by the Bay & Meows Too.

Given the name of the LLC, Alani Cafe may be opening as part of a larger wellness project. What Now reached out on Tuesday to owner Ashley Baker to ask about plans for the project. Baker was not immediately available for comment.

This leaves us guessing, for the moment, on the food and drink offerings to expect from Alani Cafe, and on its project opening date.

Launching in the South Manhattan Avenue location, Alani Cafe (and more?) would join local businesses like The Beauty Academy, Fence Cloak, Manhattan Nail Salon, Bel Mar Saloon, and Nene’s Restaurant & Bar.

Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
