The intersection of East Palmetto Street and Johnson Avenue in Lakeland appears to be the future home of a new ice cream shop. Plan review paperwork submitted recently by Michigan Bros LLC shows Mootown Scoops opening at 719 E Palmetto St., Unit 3.

Behind Michigan Bros LLC are owners Jose Martinez and Max Miller. What Now reached out to Jose Martinez on Thursday to ask about plans for Mootown Scoops. Martinez was not immediately available to discuss the project.

As a result, few details are yet available about Mootown Scoops. An obvious Motown theme is evident from the scoop shop’s name (and the reference to Michigan), but for now we’re waiting to learn more.

The location at Palmetto and Johnson is situated next to Lake Morton, just across the street from the Lakeland Public Library and the Polk Museum of Art. The building at the Palmetto Street address houses seafood restaurant Mister Fish.
