A 2024 winner of the Best of Bradenton awards, Palmetto’s American Honey Creamery is taking its “locally sourced & lovingly crafted homemade ice cream” to a second brick-and-mortar location, this time in Apollo Beach.
American Honey began as a food truck before opening its current Palmetto storefront several years ago. Then, in April of last year, it was acquired by Colleen and Alicia, who had the goal of expanding American Honey Creamery to new locales.
“Alicia and I are good friends, and we knew we wanted to get into business together,” Colleen told What Now on Tuesday. “We both wanted to do a coffee shop concept, and when we came across American Honey it just made sense. It’s family owned, and locally sourced—something we’re both passionate about.”
Like the Palmetto location, American Honey Creamery Apollo Beach will serve up coffee, bagels, bagel sandwiches, and—of course—its selection of ice creams made on-site.
American Honey Creamery’s ice cream comes in an average of 17 flavors in a given month, including sugar- and dairy-free varieties. Those flavors include classics like Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry, along with Banana Brulee, Peanut Butter Blossom, and the brand’s namesake American Honey.
The new location is a little smaller than the Palmetto location, Colleen says, but it will feature a large turfed outdoor area that’s fenced in safe for kids to run around and play in. That sets the tone for this community-focused business.
“One of our goals has been to expand to other locations and Apollo Beach made sense because we live there,” Colleen said. “We’re excited to be a community space in Apollo Beach just like in Palmetto. That’s really our goal, bringing the community together.”
No opening date has been set for the Apollo Beach American Honey Cream, whose location has yet to be revealed, but the goal is to launch sometime in the Spring.
