Located 14546 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Dosthi Chowrastha is a favorite spot for Indian street food among USF students. Founded about 3 years ago, the food truck/food court is currently transitioning into new ownership, Sudheer Kalva, one of the new owners, told What Now on Thursday.

“It was the first Indian food truck in Tampa,” Kalva said. “It’s great for USF students, because when you’re working as a student, you don’t really have time to cook. And it’s a good hangout spot. It gives kids a place to come together.”

“Tampa scenes looking delicious,” says a recent Instagram post published by Dosthi, highlighting current menu items. “Grab our Mandi Combo Deal – Chicken Juicy Mandi + Girlfriend Mandi.”

The combo includes two Mandi dishes for $30, and comes with what is perhaps Dosthi Chowrastha’s most popular item, its Irani Chai, included.

Asked what can be expected to change under Dosthi Chowrastha’s new direction, Kalva said the heart of the concept will be preserved; the idea is to bring the student-founded concept into its next chapter.

“I love the way it is already. There will be a little more order in the chaos. When they started this, they didn’t yet have other Indian food trucks trying to compete. So we’re talking to vendors, trying to get supplies delivered directly to us. Then we can focus on the food, on the flavor, bringing something new to Dosthi. A personal touch. We’re going to light it up, make it Instagram-worthy.”
