St. Petersburg’s own vegan ice cream shop Plant Love Ice Cream is preparing to expand to a second location, this time in Gulfport, 2901 Beach Blvd S #105. Since launching four years ago, the brand has developed a devoted following, and last year Happy Cow dubbed it the #3 vegan ice cream brand in the world (and #1 in the United States).

“I’m going to have a larger case with twelve flavors,” owner JoAnn Matchin told What Now on Thursday, asked what the key differences will be between the two locations. “I only run ten flavors here in St. Pete.”

In other words, expect consistency with the brand’s current offerings, which include flavors like Cookie Butter, Almond Joy, Berry Bliss, Espresso Latte, Salted Caramel, and more. That said, a new flavor will debut in the location, one that will only be available in the Gulfport ice cream shop. (The details on that flavor have yet to be revealed, however!)

Matchin says she intends to keep the brand growing.

“I am hoping to open a store in Tampa and one in Sarasota. Also, my oldest son, who lives in North Carolina, is looking to open one in Asheville.”

Located near the intersection of Beach Boulevard South and 29th Avenue South, Plant Love Ice Cream Gulfport will join a food and drink community that includes nearby spots like The Wine House, Stella’s, and The North End Tap House and Kitchen. It is expected to open in May.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone,” Matchin said. “It’s our motto to Plant Love and Watch it Grow.”
