Founded as a food truck in 2022, Tacos “El Carnal” has been growing steadily in the last few years, expanding with a second food truck. The brand’s Facebook page shows the trucks located at 1990 West Bay Dr in Largo and at 1277 S Missouri Ave in Clearwater—and now, the brand is expanding with its first brick-and-mortar restaurant.
The new Tacos El Carnal will open at 1310 Cleveland Street in Clearwater, according to submitted plan review documents.
What Now confirmed the new opening on Thursday with Simon, who owns Tacos El Carnal, and talked about the taco truck and taqueria’s origins.
“We opened in 2022,” Simon said. “I had worked in restaurants for about ten years, and I finally decided to open my own.”
The restaurant menu will feature the same favorites served by the Tacos El Carnal food trucks, including tacos with 11 different protein choices. Operating on a quick-service order-at-the-counter model, the restaurant will feature seating for about 22 guests, Simon said.
