Word got out that Pura Vida Miami, the growing healthy restaurant chain with a mission to “Establish a standard of health & wellness in the community, by providing access to healthy and nutritious food,” was planning to expand to the Tampa Bay area all the way back in late 2024. Now, after almost a year-and-a-half’s wait, signs point to those plans moving forward.

This week, What Now came across plan review paperwork submitted by the company for a new Pura Vida Miami location at 1038 Water Street in Tampa.

Tampa Bay Business & Wealth reported on plans for Water Street Pura Vida Miami location back in February, placing the planned location at that address, and describing plans filed with the city of Tampa that showed a buildout of a 4,209-square-foot indoor space, plus 562 square feet of seating space outside.

Since founding Pura Vida Miami in 2012, owner Omer and Jennifer Horev have expanded the brand considerably, bringing it to New York and California, in addition to expansion within Florida. (The TBBW coverage notes that two locations have already opened in the Sarasota area since 2024.)

The menu includes selections of Sandwiches, Wraps, Salads, and Bowls, plus All Day Breakfast choices like the Perfect Egg Sandwich (artisanal toasted plain bagel pasture-raised soft-boiled eggs, arugula, tomato, mozzarella, smashed avocado, olive oil, red pepper flakes) and Overnight Oats. There are also Plates like the Roasted Salmon Plate (Oven-roasted salmon, cilantro Jasmine rice, topped with sesame seeds, served with house salad made with mixed greens, green onion, radish, pecan, shaved parmesan, sumac vinaigrette) and the Raw Wild Tuna Plate.

“At the core of our mission is to provide delicious and healthy food while creating a like-minded community with our diverse range of menu options, including vegan and gluten-free options,” says the Pura Vida Miami website. “We aim to cater to the diverse dietary needs of our customers. Welcome to another day in paradise where health is happiness.”
