Located at 7980 N Tamiami Trail in Sarasota, Mirna’s Cuban Cuisine offers scratch-made Cuban food at a great price. The restaurant has built a considerable following and is now preparing to relocate to a bigger location this spring.

“We outgrew the location we’re currently at,” David Gonzalez, who owns Mirna’s together with the restaurant’s namesake, his mother Mirna Gonzalez, told What Now on Tuesday. “There will be seating for about 122, including outdoor seating.”

Guests can expect the same menu featuring entrees like Ropa Vieja (Shredded beef with diced bell peppers, cilantro and onion), Island Chicken (Sliced Chicken with bell peppers and onions), and Salmon con Queso; sandwiches like the Cubano and the Pan Con Bistec de Puerco (Pork steak sandwich with sautéed onions and shoestring fries).

“We’ll be adding a few things,’ says Gonzalez. But, he adds, the spirit of the restaurant remains unchanged. The menu will feature the same “delicious Cuban cuisine that is guaranteed to make your taste buds sing.”

The new location will open at 2901 N Tamiami Trail. Gonzalez says there’s no set opening date yet, but the move is expected to take place in April. You can keep up with Mirna’s news on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
