Founded by Jersey Shore natives Robert Giuliani & Abby Taylor, acai bowl franchise Playa Bowls has met with a warm welcome in the Sunshine State. With 32 Playa Bowls locations, Florida comes in third behind New Jersey and New York for most Playa Bowls units, and as the brand continues to build out its Florida presence, another new Playa Bowls looks to be opening in Sarasota’s University Town Center.

Plan review paperwork submitted PB USF Campus LLC shows a new Playa Bowls opening at 81 N Cattlemen Road. There, it would join a thriving restaurant and entertainment community that includes popular brands like Ford’s Garage, Yard House, PopStroke and Pura Vida Miami.

“What began as a pair of blenders, a patio table, and a fridge has flourished into over 300+ shops, thousands of team members, and a mission to lead communities in healthy, sustainable living,” says the Playa Bowls website. “Playa Bowls™ is your slice of summer, anytime. Using the freshest, highest quality ingredients, we serve healthy, delicious açaí, pitaya, coconut bowls and smoothies with sustainability and community in mind. Born on the beach and built for the globe, we’re your morning booster and your lunch break dream; your post-surf fix and perfect nightcap. We can’t wait to see you again!”

Playa Bowls’ acai bowls include the Protein Power Acai Bowl (Playa Acai with chocolate protein topped with blueberry flax granola, banana & peanut butter) and the Nutella Bowl, but acai is by no means the only base to choose from. Other popular choices include the Goldie Mango Bowl (Playa Mango topped with blueberry flax granola, strawberry, banana, and Nutella), the Pink Flamingo (Playa Pitaya topped with blueberry flax granola, banana, and honey), and the Coconut Power (Playa Coconut blend with vanilla protein topped with blueberry flax granola, banana, coconut flakes, and almond butter).

What now reached out Wednesday to franchisee Ethan McGowan to ask about plans for the opening. McGowan was not available for comment.
