Situated on the northeast corner of North Dale Mabry Highway and West Fletcher Avenue, Palms of Carrollwood Shopping Center is home to restaurants like Keke’s Breakfast Cafe, Simply Pho, and Wei’s Hibachi Buffet. Now, the shopping center is preparing to add a new Smoothie King to its food and drink roster. And it’s coming pretty soon.
“We should be opening in the next few months,” Petrina, the franchisee behind the location, told What now on Tuesday. “Maybe early May.”
Smoothie King has long been a principal player in the healthy fast food space. “Smoothie King offers guests the original nutritional fresh-blended Smoothie and healthy retail products, including sports beverages, energy bars, healthy snacks, vitamin supplements, herbs, minerals and other sports nutrition products,” says the Smoothie King website. “Smoothie King opened its first store in 1973 and started as the first franchised smoothie bar/health food store in the United States in 1989.”
“It was something I wanted to get in for years,” Petrina told What Now. “When I first tried those smoothies, I loved it. Finally, my husband said, ‘Okay, seriously, you’ve been interested in this for a long time. Invest!’”
Smoothie King offers a menu of cold drinks in a variety of categories: “Stay Slim” flavors like Greek Yogurt Strawberry Blueberry (Strawberries, Blueberries (Wild), Greek Nonfat Yogurt, Apple Blueberry Juice Blend, Pear Juice Blend, Nonfat Milk, Protein Blend, Fiber Blend Enhancer), “Be Well” flavors like Apple Kiwi Kale (Organic Kale, Bananas, Apple Juice, Kiwi Apple Juice Blend, Electrolyte Blend), and “Take a Break” flavors like Banana Boat (Bananas, Vanilla Frozen Yogurt, Dairy Whey Blend, Turbinado).
Although no official opening date has been set just yet, there will be a grand opening celebration complete with giveaways, Petrina says—so stay tuned for more details.
“We’re excited to come that area and we hope everyone will come out and give us a try. I know they’ll love it just like I did years ago.”
