Located at 400 First Street in Downtown St. Pete, Mahaffey Theater is adding fine dining to its program. Sonata, a new restaurant from local chef Ted Dorsey, will open at the city-owned theater, according to recent coverage by Creative Loafing Tampa Bay.

Little is known yet about the restaurant’s menu, which will be prepared in the theater’s already-existing kitchen, but it is expected to feature (as quoted in the CL Tampa Bay coverage) “coastal cuisine presented with Southern hospitality in an elegant atmosphere.”

“We’re calling it coastal cuisine rooted in Southern hospitality, but I would like to say it’s a local version of Ocean Prime,” Dorsey told the Tampa Bay Times, which specified that the menu will feature seafood and locally caught fish, plus steaks and chops.

What Now reached out to Dorsey on Thursday to ask about the restaurant’s menu and other details. Dorsey was not immediately available for comment on Sonata.
