Jacksonville-based coffee franchise Southern Grounds & Co. is preparing to open its first cafe in the Tampa Bay Market. It’s opening on August 18, at 695 Central Ave, according to coverage published this week by St. Pete Rising.
The Southern Grounds food menu features breakfast choices like Bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and oats bowls. For lunch, there’s the Southern Grounds House Burger, the Big Fat Greek Pita, and the Turkey Apple Brie sandwich.
Jordan Hooten, one of the franchisees behind the location (together with Nick and Zach Presti) told St. Pete Rising that he’d been a long time customer and knew he wanted to get involved with the brand.
In fact, the first news of Southern Grounds’ Tampa Bay debut broke almost three-and-a-half years ago, when a 9-unit deal for Tampa and St. Petersburg was signed. What Now reached out to Jordan Hooten on Friday to ask about plans for Southern Grounds’ future in the area. Hooten was not immediately available for comment.
However, coverage by St. Pete Catalyst says the next Southern Grounds in the area will open in Channelside in late 2025/early 2026.
