A family-run cafe and bakery is making a sweet return to Plant City this fall.
Sweet Missions Cafe and Bakery, owned by Tricia Rodgers, is set to open at 2806 James L. Redman Parkway, embracing the tagline “Good Food, Greater Purpose.”
The cafe temporarily closed this summer to move to its new location.
“This little cafe was built on a big dream: to serve more than food. Every cookie, every cup of coffee, and every meal we share is made with love and a greater purpose—to make our corner of the world a little sweeter. We want to be a place where food, faith, family and friends come together,” Rodgers shared via the website.
The shop will once again serve its beloved “Nanny’s Chocolate Cake,” the dessert starting it all. The recipe came from Rodgers’ husband’s grandmother, and she began baking the cake to raise money for her oldest son’s mission trip. It quickly became a local favorite, inspiring her to open a storefront, the website reads.
Sweet Missions also offers gourmet cupcakes and cookies, along with a variety of breakfast and lunch options.
The breakfast menu includes classics such as bacon or sausage, egg and cheese on a toasted English muffin; creamy avocado toast topped with fresh greens, tomatoes and signature spices; and pancakes with optional add-ons including chocolate chips, Nutella, banana slices, strawberries or whipped cream.
Lunch wouldn’t be complete without Rodgers’ famous chicken salad made with grapes, apples and pecans. Other staples feature a strawberry pecan salad, sandwiches and wraps, and homemade soups made from scratch.
The new shop is tentatively expected to open Nov. 1 as work continues on the kitchen. For updates, visit the cafe’s website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook.
