The iconic Mexican-inspired quick-service franchise, Taco Bell, recently filed a new construction plan review for a Venice outpost at 108 Jacaranda Blvd, bringing the brand’s footprint in the city to three according to official records.
A representative of franchisee, Southeast QSR Holdings LLC, did not immediately return a request for comment or confirm when the new location might open.
With origins dating back to 1951, Taco Bell is actually the eponymous brainchild of founder Glenn Bell, who was “inspired by friends and neighbors at Mitla Cafe” to “[create] his own version of the Crunchy Taco,” according to the company’s website.
Some seven decades later, Taco Bell has become all but ubiquitous across the country and into Asia, Europe, South America, and the Middle East, known as much for its signature menu items like the Crunchwrap Supreme, Chalupa, and Cheesy Gordita Crunch as its unique brand partnerships with Doritos, Mountain Dew, and clothing retailer Forever 21.
