It was a sad day for Safety Harbor when beloved sandwich shop the Sandwich on Main closed its doors at 308 Main St. on June 22.

“As many of you may already know, we’re relocating our restaurant due to VERY high rent and unreasonable landlords. This past year has been a bit stressful planning for this to say the least,” said a Facebook post published back in April. “However, we’re beyond blessed to not only have found a beautiful space at 801 Main Street but we also hit the landlord jackpot! We’re beyond thrilled to make this transition and can’t wait to be operating in the new location!”

A summer opening was originally expected but did not eventuate, and the anticipation is starting to build.

“I was hoping this was an opening post!!!!” said one comment on the restaurant’s most recent Facebook post (dated 8 weeks ago). “Hurry. My kids are starving.”

Well, things now appear to be moving forward: What Now came across plan review paperwork submitted by The Sandwich on Main Corporation for the location at 801 Main St this week. We’re looking forward to seeing how the new place turns out!

What Now reached out to Kara Catton this week to ask about plans for the reopening. Catton was not immediately available for comment.
