The intersection of Brooker Street and Florida Avenue in Tampa is the future home of WU, a new restaurant offering boba tea, Asian-Latin fusion, and more.
“It’s going to be Asian-Latin-inspired comfort food,” owner Anya Obringer told What Now on Monday. “Basically baos, bowls, and boba.”
Obringer is opening the restaurant in partnership with her husband Jose Fradera, in a unique space that promises to live up to the restaurant’s promise: “Good Food. Good Tea. Good Vibes.”
The restaurant space will feature a restaurant area serving boba tea (and eventually beer and wine), along with an outdoor area. In total there’s space for about 30 people, along with a food truck serving up the restaurant’s menu of Asian-Latin fusion offerings. In addition to the baos, bowls, and boba, weekend brunch will feature dishes like Cuban French toast with ube cream cheese, breakfast baos, and a wild bagel sandwich featuring spam, eggs, and Flaming Hot Cheeto cream cheese.
“It’s really cool to be there Seminole Heights,” Obringer said. “It’s up-and-coming, with a lot of small business, not a lot of franchises, and great walkability. It’s really exciting.”
