Ariete e Toro, a Toronto-based Italian sandwich shop specializing in schiacciata sandwiches, is preparing to open a new location near Dundas and Ossington.

The company’s second location will feature the original menu, with some new items, such as salads and sweets, according to owner Matt Blondin, who tells What Now Toronto that the team is actively working on the site and hopes to open in the next few weeks. Customers can expect the same schiacciata-based sandwiches that made the original Midtown location a viral hit, alongside takeout and delivery options.

Ariete e Toro first opened its doors in February 2025 at 12 Keewatin Avenue, near Yonge and Eglinton. The original shop is small, seating only a few customers, which has sometimes led to wait times during peak hours. Despite its size, the sandwiches quickly gained popularity, helping the shop build a devoted following among Toronto residents.

The new west-end location is intended to make the sandwiches more accessible to downtown customers while maintaining the original shop’s menu and style. This expansion comes in response to high demand and reflects the brand’s focus on quality ingredients and traditional Italian techniques. Both locations will emphasize takeout and delivery to accommodate Toronto’s fast-paced dining environment.

Signature sandwiches at Ariete e Toro include the Enzo, made with mortadella, pistachio pesto, and stracciatella cheese; the Rogo Rogo, featuring prosciutto cotto, nduja cream, and smoked provolone; and the Estella, a spicy soppressata sandwich with black olive pine nut pesto. Customers can also create their own sandwiches using high-end ingredients sourced to complement the schiacciata flatbread.

The expansion to Dundas and Ossington will introduce the brand to a new neighborhood that blends residential and commercial traffic, making it easier for downtown customers to access. With its focus on takeout, delivery, and quality sandwiches, Ariete e Toro’s second location aims to meet the growing appetite for its unique Italian offerings.
