BEAR Steak Sandwiches, a popular Toronto-based sandwich shop that began as a 2021 backyard pop-up, is set to open a new location in Toronto at 486 Front Street W.
The company’s second brick-and-mortar is set to open at The Well’s Wellington Market Food Hall on Monday, July 14, according to blogTO. This is a massive achievement for co-owners and longtime friends Ricardo Barrientos and Aki Erenberg, who officially opened a brick-and-mortar location in Little Italy in November 2023. Now, BEAR Steak Sandwiches will join the popular food hall in a couple of weeks, joining a handful of popular eateries already on-site, including Gus Tacos, Japadog, Rosie’s Burgers, Hooky’s Fish & Chips, Blue Claw Lobster Shack, La Cubana, Bagels on Fire, The Islands Caribbean Cookshop, Isabella’s Mochi Donuts and Nord Lyon.
BEAR Steak Sandwiches offers a focused menu centered around their Original Steak Sandwich, featuring sous-vide flank steak and chimichurri on a Portuguese roll, as well as a Roast Pork Sandwich with provolone on a sesame roll. A cheeseburger with a medium-rare chuck patty, American cheese, pickles, and sauce is also available. Sandwiches can be ordered with chimichurri-tossed or plain fries. Limited-time specials, such as porchetta or crispy pork belly, appear occasionally. All items are made to order and served hot.
Toronto’s Wellington Market Food Hall at The Well is shaping up to be an excellent spot for BEAR Steak Sandwiches’ second location. The market is a vibrant space with over 50 vendors and seating for approximately 900 people, attracting a diverse mix of residents, office workers, and visitors. Its central location near Front and Spadina means steady foot traffic from thousands of people living and working nearby. The food hall’s fast-casual environment suits BEAR’s straightforward, protein-focused steak sandwiches. This new location will give BEAR a strong presence in a busy, popular food destination.
