Biggs Ribs, a popular Brampton-based barbecue spot, is getting ready to open a new location in Downtown Hamilton at 56 James Street North.
The new restaurant will bring Biggs Ribs’ signature smoked and saucy dishes to the city’s core, expanding from its early days as a pandemic pop-up, according to YourCityWithin. The brand was launched by owner Elias Williams, who started with weekend pop-ups before opening a full brick-and-mortar location in Brampton and is now expanding to Hamilton.
“We don’t have a specific opening day yet, but we’re aiming for the end of August,” a representative from the company tells What Now Toronto via Instagram. “Just working with the city to get our licenses and stuff, then we’ll be good to go!”
The Hamilton location will offer dine-in seating, a change from the more takeout-oriented setup of their previous formats. The menu features halal barbecue staples, including fall-off-the-bone beef ribs by the rack, chicken wings, waffle fries, mac and cheese, coleslaw, and cornbread.
Everything is made fresh, with ribs slow-cooked and coated in a house-made honey barbecue sauce. Banana pudding and other desserts round out the lineup.
An exact opening date has not yet been confirmed, but the restaurant is expected to launch by the end of the month. Once open, Biggs Ribs will be a new addition to the growing food scene on James Street North and marks the brand’s first move outside the GTA.
