Farm Boy, the Ontario-based grocery chain known for its fresh produce and in-store chef-prepared meals, is opening a new store at 39 Huron Street in downtown Collingwood.
The location marks the brand’s first entry into the fast-growing Simcoe County town and is part of a larger expansion strategy that also includes two sites in Eastern Ontario, according to Retail Insider. Other upcoming locations are at 700 Terry Fox Drive in Kanata and the intersection of Bank Street and Skipper Drive in Ottawa.
While those stores extend Farm Boy’s reach in the National Capital Region, the Collingwood store represents a significant step into a smaller, tourism-driven market. Official opening timelines have not yet been confirmed as lease negotiations and construction continue.
The Collingwood store reflects Farm Boy’s ongoing push into both suburban and emerging urban areas across Ontario. A cornerstone of its growth model is a strong focus on in-store experiences, including ready-to-eat meals made daily, locally sourced produce, and exclusive private label offerings.
Founded in Cornwall, Ontario, in 1981 by Jean-Louis and Colette Bellemare, Farm Boy has grown from a modest produce stand into a beloved grocery chain with 51 stores. Since being acquired by Empire Company Limited in 2018, the brand has remained focused solely on the Ontario market. Headquartered in Ottawa, Farm Boy continues to build its reputation for quality, freshness, and local food partnerships.
