Good Earth Coffeehouse, a community-focused coffeehouse chain known for ethically sourced coffee and fresh, wholesome food, is preparing to expand across Canada by moving into recently closed Starbucks locations.
The company’s expansion strategy is focused on key markets, including Toronto and Southwestern Ontario, where several Starbucks closures have left high-traffic neighborhoods without local cafe options, according to Retail Insider. While opening timelines have not yet been confirmed, Good Earth’s real estate team is actively securing locations throughout these regions. Customers can expect a familiar coffeehouse setup offering espresso drinks, teas, smoothies, fresh baking, and a full cafe menu.
Founded in Calgary in 1991, Good Earth currently operates more than 50 locations nationwide. This next phase of growth is supported by a team of commercial real estate professionals: Doug Basarovich of Greenwood Realty, and Stan Boniferro, Michael Kehoe, and Warren Smagaren of Fairfield Commercial Real Estate. According to the company, the expansion is part of a broader mission to bring back gathering spaces to communities that have recently lost them.
In addition to reclaiming prime retail space, Good Earth is inviting interest from both multi-unit and single-unit franchise partners. The brand’s localized ownership model aims to foster a deeper connection between each cafe and its surrounding community. This approach is expected to resonate in high-density and walkable neighborhoods across the GTA and Southwestern Ontario.
Guests can look forward to a menu featuring classic and seasonal coffee drinks, like the Maple Butter Caffe Latte and Pumpkin Pie Caffe Latte, alongside breakfast sandwiches, paninis, soups, and pastries. Signature items such as the Maple Walnut & Cranberry Scone reflect the brand’s Canadian roots.
Good Earth continues to emphasize sustainability through programs that include tree planting with TreeEra, compostable packaging, and waste-reduction initiatives. The company’s expansion into Toronto and Southwestern Ontario highlights its ongoing commitment to community, environmental responsibility, and high-quality coffee experiences.
