HEAL Wellness, an acai bowl and smoothie shop dedicated to providing nutritious and delicious all-natural superfoods, is preparing for a massive takeover with a handful of locations opening in the greater Toronto area this year.
Currently, the company has 16 locations throughout Canada, including five in Toronto. According to the company’s website, HEAL Wellness is preparing for a significant year, with 19 new locations opening in 2025. In the greater Toronto area, the company plans to open locations in Hamilton at 1023 King Street W., in Toronto at 1090 Don Mills Road, in Aurora at 15570 Yonge Street, Unit 2, and in Whitby at 370 Taunton Road E. The company is also working on five new locations in Calgary. These locations are all owned and operated by separate franchise owners. Happy Belly Food Group announced at the beginning of the year that the group will open a new location of HEAL Wellness in Kingston at 324 Princess Street.
What Now Toronto spoke with David Lamph, a multi-unit Franchisee of HEAL Wellness with Happy Belly Food Group, to learn whether he will own any of these upcoming locations. While he will not be the franchisee for any of these listed sites, Lamph tells What Now Toronto that he is aiming to open another location before the end of the year, but must find a site first. Happy Belly Food Group Inc. recently announced that its Heal Wellness brand has signed its 49th franchise agreement, according to a press release. This franchised location will be for the area of Brampton, Ontario. The restaurant group owns and operates a variety of restaurant brands, including Lettuce Love Café, HEAL Wellness, Rosie’s Burgers, Yolks, Via Cibo, iQ Food Co., Joey Turks Island Grill, and Lumber Heads Food Co., with plans for ongoing expansion.
“With our 49th franchise agreement now signed, Heal Wellness continues to strengthen its development pipeline and drive consistent organic growth,” Sean Black, Chief Executive Officer of Happy Belly, said in a press release. “The steady stream of new franchise agreements and the securing of strategic real estate across Canada reinforces our expansion strategy while generating long-term value for our shareholders. Our vision remains clear—to establish Heal Wellness as the leading acai bowl and smoothie brand in Canada. As we move forward in 2025, our focus remains on accelerating both organic and inorganic growth. Our franchise program continues to attract passionate partners, fueling rapid and sustainable expansion. With a well-established business model that mitigates the typical risks of entrepreneurship, we equip franchisees with the tools needed for success while maintaining the strength and reputation of our brands. This structured approach has been instrumental in Heal Wellness’ rapid national growth and is a testament to our operational efficiency. As the brand’s free cash flow grows, we plan to further expand corporate store development while leveraging additional momentum from our franchise network. With multiple locations already under construction, we anticipate announcing additional openings throughout the year as we further scale our presence across Canada.”
