Hometown Road Noodlehouse, known for serving the most popular rice noodle soup in town, will open a new Toronto location at RBC WaterPark Place, located at 88 Queens Quay West.

The new restaurant, which will be the second in Toronto, is expected to open between September and October 2025 and will follow the model of the brand’s original Toronto location in the TD Centre food court, which debuted in April 2024, according to 6ix Retail. That location currently serves up to 40 customers in eight minutes during peak lunch hours, offering a streamlined menu of rice noodle soups priced between $12.80 and $16.80.

The family-owned business launched initially in Calgary over 15 years ago before relocating to Toronto during the COVID-19 pandemic. Owners Angela Li and James Lin partnered with Lin’s parents, Jason Lin and Linda Zhou, who previously ran a noodle shop in Calgary. After larger brands exited the PATH system post-pandemic, the family saw an opportunity to enter the downtown market.

The menu features five core options: beef brisket (made with 100% Alberta beef), chicken, seafood, spicy pork, and tofu. All dishes are served with either a free-range chicken broth or a vegetarian mushroom-based alternative. The team also sells their house-made chili oil in retail jars for $15.

Preparation for the lunch rush can take up to 12 hours. The team also adapted recipes in response to supply challenges while maintaining consistency. The new Waterfront location may offer limited dinner service, depending on the food court’s operations in the area.

“We always imagine a better future, but right now we are very focused on what we already have and we’re constantly improving on top of it,” Li tells 6ix Retail. “So right now what we’re trying to do is actually we’re still improving on our operations, our efficiency, the quality of just the basic ingredients every single day.”
