One of the world’s largest Italian food marketplaces is set to open its fourth location in Toronto this fall at 260 Yonge Street. Eataly, known for its artisanal Italian products, recently announced on its website that the Italian go-to destination will be opening its doors at the Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto by the end of the year.
The shopping center confirmed this exciting new development on its website, sharing that Eataly will take the former Nordstrom space in the mall for this latest addition, solidifying Eataly’s presence in North America.
Eataly has taken the world by storm, with locations in Italy, South Korea, Los Angeles, and Japan, to name a few. Toronto will lead North America with almost as many storefronts as Tokyo, which currently has five.
The CF Toronto Eaton Centre Eataly will include classics and favorites in the 25,000 square foot space in the mall. The marketplace will offer a host of options, including a grocery store, sit-down restaurants, and spots to purchase food and gifts.
Eataly fans can even check out their new espresso bars and cooking classes, all under one roof. Though this is the fourth location in Toronto, the new location will be its second downtown to offer this scale of products. Eataly at CF Don Shops opened in May of last year, establishing a 180-seat restaurant with an array of Italian dishes, several quick service counters, and retail offers.
In Eataly fashion, the new shops at the Eaton Centre are expected to offer the same.
Since opening the first location in Toronto in 2019, the company has changed hands but is sticking with its current landlord, Cadillac Fairview, for this endeavor. Owning a share of the business is a well-known venture capitalist family, the Westons.
So far, Toronto has been a strong market for the Italian-inspired retailers. Though an opening date has yet to be confirmed, Eataly at the Eaton Centre is sure to bring a multitude of artisan Italian offerings, a host of beloved customers, and a continued cash flow for partners and the city.
