Longo’s, a family-run grocery chain known for its fresh food offerings and prepared meals, is getting ready to open a new location in Etobicoke at 1061 The Queensway.
The company’s upcoming store will join a busy commercial corridor near Cineplex, Costco, and several big-box retailers, according to YourCityWithin. While the store is slated to open in November 2025, positions across all departments have already begun to roll out. Guests can expect Longo’s signature grocery experience, featuring fresh produce, a full-service butcher, and the Longo’s Kitchen, offering a variety of hot and cold meal options.
Founded in 1956 by Sicilian brothers Tommy, Joe, and Gus Longo, the company began as Broadway Fruit Market, a 1,500-square-foot shop at Yonge and Castlefield. Over the decades, Longo’s has grown into a trusted Ontario brand, now operating more than 40 locations and employing over 6,000 people. Despite its size, the company remains family-owned and operated, with the third generation of the Longo family at the helm.
The Queensway location will feature Longo’s Kitchen, an on-site dining option offering ready-to-eat meals, including hot bar entrees, fresh Neapolitan-style pizza, and a build-your-own salad bar. Customers can also take advantage of convenient takeout and meal kit options for weeknight dinners.
Pizza plays a central role in the in-store dining concept, with hand-stretched pies baked in stone ovens. Options range from classics like pepperoni and double cheese to seasonal specialties like the October Pizza of the Month, which features Longo’s Curato Prosciutto, sweet potatoes, feta cheese, caramelized onions, and fresh parsley.
The Etobicoke opening underscores Longo’s continued commitment to serving neighbourhoods across the GTA with fresh, chef-prepared food and a strong focus on family values. “We will only serve others what we can confidently serve our own families,” the company notes on its website.
