Tabule, a Toronto-based Middle Eastern restaurant group, will open its first location outside the city at 234 Lakeshore Road East in downtown Oakville.
The Oakville location will be the fifth in the Tabule restaurant group, which includes Tabule Midtown, Tabule Riverside, Tabule Bayview, and Souk Tabule in Toronto, according to Insauga. Signage is already in place at the new Oakville site, which was formerly home to River16, a Mediterranean restaurant. While an official opening date has not been confirmed, the restaurant is currently hiring staff.
Tabule was founded in 2005 by Chef Rony Goriachy and Diana Sideris. The original Midtown location at 2009 Yonge Street quickly gained recognition for its interpretation of traditional Middle Eastern dishes. The restaurant has since earned awards, including Now Magazine’s Readers’ Choice for “Best Middle Eastern” and “Best Falafel” in 2019.
The menu offers a diverse selection of hot and cold appetizers, main courses, salads, and desserts. Popular items include falafel, chicken livers, mujaddara, babaganuj, and grilled seabass. Award-winning appetizers include the hallüm cheese salad, lentil soup, and arnabeet (fried cauliflower with tahini). Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available.
In addition to food, Tabule offers a curated drinks menu. Options include local and imported beers, wines from regions such as Lebanon, Italy, and California, as well as signature cocktails like the Habibi mojito and the Lebanese margarita. The coffee bar serves Lebanese coffee, espresso drinks, and a variety of teas.
Tabule also offers takeout and delivery services, and its other locations provide catering and event booking options. The Oakville restaurant will follow a similar model, bringing the full Tabule experience to a new customer base outside Toronto for the first time.
