Pizzeria Badiali, a Toronto-based pizza restaurant known for its New York-style and Italian-inspired pies, is preparing to open a new location at 581 Markham St.
The company’s second location, Pizzeria Badiali Annex, is part of the Mirvish Village mixed-use development, which includes residential units, Sweetie Pie Bakery, Bestco Grocery, LCBO, and Ask for Luigi, according to Toronto.com. While an official opening date has not been announced, the restaurant is currently applying for a liquor license. Customers can expect the same signature pizza and slice options that made the Dovercourt location popular, alongside salads, drinks, and merchandise.
The original Pizzeria Badiali opened at 181 Dovercourt Road and has been recognized as one of Toronto’s top pizza spots, earning a global ranking of 51st in the Best Pizza Awards. The brand is known for chef Ryan Baddeley’s attention to quality ingredients and nostalgic New York-style pizza techniques.
Mirvish Village, the former site of Honest Ed’s Department Store, has been redeveloped by Westbank Living to include approximately 900 rental units and 366 affordable rental homes. The project has attracted a mix of food, retail, and service establishments, making it a growing hub for the area. Pizzeria Badiali’s addition strengthens the development’s culinary offerings and continues the neighborhood’s transformation.
The menu at Pizzeria Badiali Annex is expected to mirror the original’s offerings, including full pies such as the Original Cheese, Margherita, and Cacio e Pepe, as well as specialty slices like the Vodka Pie and Sausage Peppers and Onion. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available, along with salads, soft drinks, and dips.
This will be an excellent landing space for Pizzeria Badiali, providing a mix of casual dining and takeout in a high-traffic neighborhood. The new location allows the brand to serve both longtime fans and new customers while maintaining its focus on quality ingredients and classic pizza techniques that have earned it a loyal following.
