The Bakers, a Mississauga bakery specializing in traditional Middle Eastern baked goods, is getting ready to open a new location in Mississauga at Square One Shopping Centre at 100 City Centre Drive.

The company’s second location is set to open between Chipotle Mexican Grill and Amaya, according to the shopping center’s website. While an exact opening date has not been announced, the new storefront will expand the brand’s presence beyond its original shop on Platinum Drive. Customers can expect the same menu the bakery is known for, including manakish, maarouk, and a wide range of baked goods rooted in Syrian traditions.

The Bakers was founded by baker Najla Al Saghir, who began making Maarouk at home for friends and family before demand grew beyond her kitchen. As interest increased, she partnered with Bassel Kardan, a relative with more than 25 years of experience running restaurants and food businesses across Syria, Dubai, Kuwait, and Canada. With Najla’s recipes and Bassel’s operational background, the pair launched The Bakers and began building a loyal customer base in Mississauga.

The company highlights that its recipes and approach remain true to its Syrian roots. The bakery emphasizes traditional techniques, high-quality ingredients, and a focus on baked goods that reflect Middle Eastern flavors. Their menu spans savory and sweet items, including manakish topped with cheese, zaatar, meat, vegetables, or sujuk, as well as specialty-filled doughs and seasonal options. Maarouk remains their signature item, offered in flavors such as pistachio, chocolate, date, and honey, along with mini versions and stuffed variations.

This will be an excellent landing space for The Bakers, as Square One’s steady customer traffic and diverse food lineup often support businesses with strong cultural identities. The new location gives the bakery a chance to reach a wider audience while continuing to serve customers seeking traditional Middle Eastern baked goods. Customers visiting Square One will soon be able to stop in for manakish, maarouk, mini fatayer, and a range of beverages once the shop officially opens.
