Thindi, a vegetarian Indian eatery in Toronto, is getting ready to open a new location in Liberty Village at 153 East Liberty Street.

The company’s second site is set to take over the former home of imPerfect Fresh Eats, according to BlogTO. Co-founders Anuja Mehta and her husband, Abhilash, plan to launch the new spot in the coming weeks. The location will offer the cafe’s signature vegetarian sandwiches with upgrades, along with classic drinks and a hot bar featuring a range of vegetarian and vegan snacks. The owners take pride in offering a dynamic menu featuring freshly crafted, honest Indian snacks and beverages, a departure from the commonplace Indian dining experiences.

The Indian vegetarian cafe first launched in February 2019 in the Deppeneur’s kitchen before moving to a kiosk at the World Food Market later that year. Its flagship store opened in July 2021 at 400 College St., where it developed a loyal following. “Thindi” means “snacks” in Kannada, which reflects its menu of Indian comfort food items, such as Bangalore masala dosa, Maggi noodles, and poha. The sandwich menu includes options such as paneer tikka grill, green chili cheese toast, and paneer bhurji, alongside drinks like house-brewed chai, South Indian coffee, nimbu soda, and thandai.

“This has been a dream in the making, and we’re so excited to bring our love for bold Indian flavours, feel-good snacks, and cozy chai moments to a brand new neighbourhood,” according to an announcement made by the company. “From our very first dosa flipped to every chai poured with love, you’ve helped us grow — and now, we can’t wait to welcome you into our new space, just a few weeks away from opening! Expect the same Thindi energy, with a few fun surprises in store. To our new Liberty Village neighbours: we can’t wait to meet you, feed you, and become part of your daily snack rituals. And to our OG Thindi fam: thank you for cheering us on every step of the way. You make this possible.”
