Wanda’s Caribbean Kitchen, a family-owned Caribbean and Jamaican restaurant located in Hamilton, is preparing to relocate after the owners closed its location at 1842 Lakeshore Road W. in Mississauga late last month.
The restaurant, owned and operated by Wanda Thomas, will relocate to a new space nearby at 1722 Lakeshore Road W. The restaurant announced the move on Instagram, stating it will be closed temporarily to prepare for the new location. A grand opening celebration is planned, and the new location is scheduled to open sometime next week. The former home of Wanda’s Caribbean Kitchen will be taken over by Gulab – Fine Indian Cuisine, according to that restaurant’s website, though no opening date has been provided.
When this location opens, customers can expect a menu featuring island favourites like jerk chicken, oxtail, and roti, served from a straightforward, compact counter. Wanda’s Caribbean Kitchen offers a mix of authentic Caribbean and Canadian dishes, with standout items including oxtail cooked to perfection, tender and well-seasoned jerk chicken, and the chef’s special soup, known for its balanced spice and rich flavor.
“As a local family-owned Caribbean restaurant, we’re serving up the true taste of Caribbean food to Hamilton and Mississauga,” according to the company’s website. “Using family recipes passed down through generations, and only the best ingredients, Wanda’s Caribbean Kitchen is proud to share these mouth-watering dishes with our customers. It’s thanks to all our dedicated customers that we can continue doing what we love and providing you, our customers, with the best of Caribbean cuisine!”
