Cafe Zupas is moving into the former Wendy’s location at 2004 N. High St. in Columbus, bringing fresh soups, salads and sandwiches to the University District. The site, just across from the Ohio State University campus, was previously home to a longtime Wendy’s that closed in late 2024.

Known for its made-to-order menu and health-focused options, Cafe Zupas will mark its third Central Ohio location with this opening. The brand aims to appeal to students and nearby residents looking for quick, lighter meals in a casual setting.

Plans include transforming the existing drive-through lot into a dine-in cafe, pending final approvals. Once open, the new restaurant is expected to offer customizable bowls, seasonal ingredients and a more modern, relaxed atmosphere.

This addition reflects a growing shift toward fast-casual dining options in campus areas, as more people seek out fresh alternatives to traditional fast food. An official opening date has not yet been announced.
