A new Dairy Queen is in the plans for East Lansing, with no opening date set.
WITL recently reported Dairy Queen is coming to 1000 Trowbridge Road sometime this year. The was previously a PappaRoti cafe, and now the franchise is moving into the location. The franchiser, Wael Hamade, told What Now Detroit the timeline is opening is unclear as work inside still needs to be done.
When speaking with Hamade, a Michigan local, he said he’s trying to get the fryer on so his team can get closer to opening. In September, construction was happening on the exterior, and it looks like the structure is nearly complete now. Stokas Bieri, What Now’s local commercial real estate preferred partner, represented the landlord in the lease.
Dairy Queen is known for their Blizzards, sundaes, as well as burgers and sandwiches. The Blizzards come in dessert flavors like chocolate chip cookie dough, turtle pecan cluster and choco brownie extreme.
The new location is in a plaza of stores and restaurants, including Korea House, Ding Tea East Lansing, Woody’s Oasis Mediterranean restaurant and Swagath Indian Cuisine. There is also a Fresh Thyme Market behind the new ice cream spot.
Dairy Queen already has the East Lansing location listed on their website. What Now Detroit is waiting to hear back from Hamade for more information on the restaurant.
