Hawaiian restaurant Da Kine’s Plate Lunches is currently in the middle of a renovation and relocation.

“Aloha, Da Kine’s is closed as we are moving to La Mesa and we will reopen August 2021,” the restaurant posted to its website. “Until then, Da Kine’s is still doing caterings. Contact us through the website to place your order.”

Da Kine’s has been offering Hawaiian cuisine since 1997 and offers a variety of plate lunches and food a la carte.

Owner Nelson Ishii could not be reached for comment prior to publication.

“It’s been a month since we’ve closed. We wanted to share an update with you,” Da Kine’s Plate Lunches posted to Instagram a few weeks ago. “Da Kine’s has a new home. Our new location is off University Ave. in La Mesa. We’re currently in the process of building the inside of the restaurant.”

The restaurant expects to open in the mid to late summer.

Da Kine’s last day at its old spot in Linda Vista was Feb. 28.
