Black Tiger Medical Transportation is laying off employees, according to a WARN filing. The facility itself is not closing, and transportation service will continue to operate. The move marks a significant employment shift in the region’s non-emergency medical transport sector, as the company is undergoing a merger with America West Medical Transportation.

Black Tiger Medical Transportation Announces Job Cuts

Black Tiger Medical Transportation filed a notice on April 27 under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. The notice was filed with the California Employment Development Department, which tracks mass layoffs and closures across the state.

According to the filing, the organization will lay off 82 employees at its facility at 9090 Birch St. in Spring Valley. The layoffs are scheduled to take place on May 29, 2026. The workforce action is tied to an operational transition as part of a merger with America West Medical Transportation, according to a company spokesperson.

Employees are being offered the opportunity to apply for continued employment with America West Medical Transportation. Transportation services are expected to continue through the transition.

Black Tiger Medical Transportation is a non-emergency medical transportation company. It specializes in providing safe, efficient, and patient-focused transportation services. The company aims to facilitate access to crucial medical appointments with doctors, therapists, or specialists.
