Three Boys Coffee is preparing to expand into Chula Vista with a new location at 945 Otay Lakes Road, according to San Diego County permitting records. The family-owned coffee shop, which has a flagship in National City, is working to open a store in the College Plaza shopping center, across from Southwestern College.

Records show a permitting application is in review for the company to take over a 1,703-square-foot space within the shopping center. College Plaza has about 25 retailers, including Otay Mandarin, College Plaza Laun-Dry, Otay Lakes Dental Care, and iSushi.

The Three Boys Coffee website lists the location as “coming soon”. Its planned hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The company’s menu offers a broad selection of espresso-based drinks. Traditional options include double-shot espresso, lattes, Americanos, cappuccinos, cortados, macchiatos, and Colombian-blend house coffee.

First opened in 2022, the venture is an ode to founder Ricardo Rivas’ love for coffee and his fatherhood, inspired by his three sons. In addition to the flagship and this planned Chula Vista outpost, the brand is also launching a coffee cart soon.
